Chairs

  • Tatiana Diamond

    Co-Chair

    Tatiana is one of the co-chairs for Prevention of Elder Abuse Committee of York Region. She is a nurse with over thirty years of nursing management experience with clinical background in geriatrics, continuing care, rehabilitation, palliative care and home care. She has worked with PEACYR for over 10 years. Tatiana holds Canadian Nurses Association Gerontology Nurse Certificate. She received the 2021 Volunteer Award for her contribution to the prevention of the Elder Abuse Committee of York Region.

    Her strong geriatrics background, leading multidisciplinary teams, working closely with clients living with cognitive and physical challenges, has inspired her passion for providing supportive care and resources to clients and their families in the community.

  • Janice Stober

    Co-Chair

    Janice is one of the co-chairs for the Prevention of Elder Abuse Committee of York Region. Janice is the Clinical Coordinator and Educator for Specialized Geriatric Outreach Services at North York General Hospital. One of her many roles is to support and provide educational opportunities to five Specialized Geriatric Outreach Teams teams spanning two regions. As a representative for Specialized Geriatric Services, Janice is an active member of two regional Ontario Health Teams and continues to work collaboratively with community partners in different regions. Prior to her current role, she worked as a clinical social worker in the York Region for over 25 years. Janice was an interprofessional clinician on The Southeast Geriatric Outreach Team at Unionville Home Society for many years and prior to that position she was a clinical social worker at a Movement Disorder Clinic in Markham. Janice was trained at McGill University, and her career has spanned the spectrum of working in a variety of settings, including acute, rehab, community clinic and long-term care.

    Janice’s passion is working on streaming geriatric clinical pathways to promote equity and accessibility of community services for all seniors and their families.

  • Susan Steels

    Executive committee member

    Susan is a Registered Social Worker with over 30 years in healthcare leadership and specialized geriatric care. She has been a member of the Prevention of Elder Abuse Committee of York Region for over 20 years, contributing to education, community outreach, and public engagement. She was awarded Volunteer Recognition from PEACYR in 2014 for long standing service and contribution. In 2021, she was awarded recognition from the Prevention Abuse Prevention Ontario for her leadership and dedicated service in elder abuse prevention. Susan has retired from Southlake Regional Health Centre. She continues to fulfill her passion to create a better world to grow old, free from abuse.

  • Melanie Rowe

    Executive committee member

    Melanie is a newer member of the Committee. She is the Vice President of Client Care & Services at CHATS- Community & Home Assistance to Seniors supporting older adults to live best and at home in their communities. Melanie is passionate in enhancing the health and well being of her clients, caregivers, and staff. She is a healthcare executive with diverse expertise in the community, chronic and complex care settings.

  • Kate Papillo

    Executive committee member

    Kate Papillo is a newer member of the committee. Kate is the Manager of the Adult Day Program (ADP) and Geriatric Outreach Team (GOT) at Unionville Home Society (UHS). Kate has been working within the senior population for over 20 years as a Recreation Therapist initially for the Home Support Program and then moved into the Role of Manager of ADP and GOT at UHS. Kate’s passion is creating opportunities through engagement/connection (ADP) & comprehensive geriatric assessment (GOT) to improve the quality of life for her community seniors.

  • Danielle Froud

    Executive committee member

    In 2003 Officer Danielle Froud joined York Regional Police. After graduating from Ontario Police College she was deployed to the front line where she developed a strong base of policing experience serving the community of Richmond Hill.

    In 2010, she transferred to the Criminal Investigation Bureau where she was responsible for investigating crimes against persons. In 2018, she returned to front line duties where she patrolled the City of Vaughan and Town of Newmarket. In 2021, she happily transferred to the Senior Safety office where she liaises with other officers, community partners, seniors and family members regarding senior issues in the community. One of her career highlights was being deployed for security at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC.

  • Erin Brown

    Executive committee member

    Constable Erin Brown is currently in her 22nd year of policing at YRP and is currently a member of the Senior Safety Unit within Community Services. Erin has worked in various roles as an officer including front line patrol, 1 District Criminal Investigations Branch out of Newmarket, the Uniform Recruiting Unit, and the Major Collisions Investigations Unit prior to starting with Senior Safety in 2022. Along with assisting and liaising with seniors and community partners, Erin is also a member of various Internal Support Networks at YRP including the Pride ISN.

Administration

  • Natalia Diamond

    Administrator/ Social Media Coordinator

    Natalia is a current Master’s student at the University of Guelph in Human Health & Nutritional Sciences. She recently graduated from her Bachelors in Bio-Medical Sciences from the University of Guelph where she was also a member of the varisty swim team. Natalia has previous experience working with vulnerable populations and older adults. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family, friends, and her dog!

  • Marianne Gorecki

    Treasurer

    Marianne is the Treasurer for PEACYR. Before volunteering to help raise awareness of elder abuse prevention in her community she worked in the Treasury department at Bell Canada. Her experience and passion for helping older adults age well makes her a valuable member of PEACYR's Executive Committee.
